New Single!! 2009.1.28 [Sora to Ito]

Green screens are one thing. I just think they went a little overboard with the SFX for this video, what with the flying blobs of d00m and whatnot XP And the emo lighting that obscures the faces is something Kyo would be proud of, if Marrow of the Bone era has anything to say about it. XD

Lol, I just found the emo comment a little odd, considering Mucc technically used to be "Zetsubou" out the ass...especially for the Zetsubou PV itself. I mean, a girl hung herself at the end. *snort* So the emo lighting doesn't really bother me at all. XDDD I actually think the white-washed look fits the PV pretty well, and it's probably only temporary for this single. Hopefully. XD The lighting for Dir en grey was temporary, because now they found their light bulbs! 8D

Ah, but with Zetsubou you could see their faces, and the girl's lighting was sunlight. I realize with miya's background and everything, they've always been emo, but it never... they never LOOKED emo. They looked goth. Which. is emo without the whine and incessant focus on love and heartbreak. XD I listen to industrial and EBM, which is about as emo as it gets with lyrics, but the music is usually just the opposite - peppy and catchy and dancey. You have to pay attention to the lyrics in order to realize that they're in fact singing about a dad who never spent time with his kid who ends up killing himself.

I just... this whole top lighting thing they have going is just bad art direction. It makes my brain bork. Maybe it'll grow on me when I can watch the whole thing in more than 150x75 pixels XP

the lighting really is nothing new, it was pretty much the same thing for zetsubou and you can't see them well in rojiura either, I don't think.

I am loling at the ~*~DRAMATIC~*~ slow bit after Tatsurou gets that massive hole in his chest though. so.. cheesy? corny? whatever you wanna call it.

Utagoe is totally my favorite PV though D8 I just love all the movement, though I guess I'm biased because the setting is kind of nostalgic to me. makes me think of all the Sum41 and Blink-182 videos I loved, haha. I was just thinking about this today by the way, lol

anyway, let's wait to bash the video until after we've seen more than 30 seconds, shall we?

As a photographer I will continue to bash the Sora to Ito lighting until the day I think it looks cool XD

Haha, it's ok. I watched Rojiura though. They are obscured with their makeup and lots of shadows, but they also had fill lighting. I can make out their faces. Same with the link you gave. I can't make out their bodies, but I can make out their faces. With Sora to Ito, I just see silhouettes with a splash of white so that I can see that there's in fact movement. And Zetsubou, as well, has fill and spot light. Lots and lots of cast shadows from everything in the room, but I can SEE Mucc. I don't see black blobs thrashing about with these... things that look like guitars. That's what I don't like about it. It's like someone cranked up the contrast so that there are three colors: BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK, RED, and *sploosh* white. No shades of anything else. Just 000000, FF0000, and FFFFFF

ahh yes, watching it again I can see what you mean. I think that might be fixed once it's bigger though, you ever made a little 100x100 icon and turned up the contrast and gone "WHOA what the hell was this even of?"

Yeah, but MUCC turned up the contrast before we could shrink it. XD But you're right. With the DVD on a TV screen, I might be able to appreciate it more. Not that my little TV's that big... >>;;;;;;;

I actually like what I've seen so far of the video, I don't mind the lighting, although since ARE MUCC I'm betting their next PV will have feel and lighting. If they got stuck in this shadowy phase the way Dir en grey did I'd start to miss their faces I highly doubt that would happen tho.
The bullet bit does make me giggle tho, it is tacky, I like the way after he's shot Tatsu looks down at the gaping hole like "Whaaa?". I don't get the giant meteor lingering over his head tho?

Ahahahaaa...I don't know, I can see their faces fine in the clip (especially in that one shot of Tatsue at the beginning.) but it is after all, only 30 seconds of a 4 minute song. XDDD I don't really have anything to complain about, for the song or the video. *shrug* I see just as much emo-ness in this as in any of their other videos, which really isn't all that bad, so I can't see what everyone else does. All I know is I want the whole PV...I hate waiting. ;o;

A LITTLE BIT BEFORE 2:30 I BELIEVE TATSUROU SCREAMS "MO NANIMOOOOO" AND I LOVE HOW IT JUST FOCUSES RIGHT ON HIM ahsdf it's beautiful.

Yukke looks particularly wonderful when you can see him and I'm cursing the contrast crap because SATOCHI'S AAAARMS. I wanna see them more! --whoa, beautiful bit of Tatsurou near the end, looking into the camera I think. the long hair has grown on me by the way, it really does suit him.

everything about the 4 of them is wonderful, but I hope they never, ever do that CG thing again.

Ok. I'm on my computer with the dark monitors (there's a very good reason why my monitors are so dark), so I won't comment too much on the lighting/darkness/contrast tonight. I will say that as a whole it was better because well... You saw why. XD

It's not my favorite video by them. But by far not the worst. Uhm.... Hm. What little I saw of Satochi pleased me XD GOD THOSE ARMS *licks them* Sorry.

Anyone else notice that the synthesizer on the vox was gone?

Ageha's more creative to me, even if ultimately it's a bad amalgamation of American and Japanese video cliches. (*cough*more colors in it, too*cough*)

Sora to Ito struck me in the same way as a lot of American action movies that are OMG SO COOOOL.
The directors sat down and said, "HEY DUDE WOULDN'T IT BE COOL IF...." And they run with it. The Italian Job is a perfect example of this approach to making an action movie. "DUDE WOULDN'T IT BE COOL IF MARK WAHLBERG INTRODUCES ALL THE CHARACTERS TO HIS NEW G/F AND THEY LIKE HAVE THESE REALLY AMAZING INTROS LIKE OMG THE CAR DUDE JUST DRIIIIIIVES IN BURNING RUBBER YEAH LIKE THAT! CUZ HE'S A CAR DUDE!"

I'm sure when someone takes the time to translate the lyrics it'll make a LOT more sense.

But, I am kind of sad that there really wasn't a head on shot of Yukke. His hair looked COOL, and I love the outfit, but hiiiii can we see your face? XDDD Like I said before, it's rare to see any of the other three for more than a second, it's the vocalist curse, and it doesn't help with the dark shadows. Still a great PV.

Synthesizer is still there, indeed. It's just not as obvious in high quality. I think it blends nicely myself.

Yeah, same here. I caught about half of it with all the refreshing. I saw Rivetspoon in the chatroom...what was all that stuff about "Satochi being straight" and "Go, Yukke?" I saw that Tatsurou was talking about Yukke doing something...it sounded like he squished a bug or something. What was that about? XDDDD Tatsurou is so adorable though, he is such an animated storyteller, and akndgksndgggg his hair. *braindead* I have a thing for long hair. Strange that I find Yukke so attractive with short hair, but it works on him...
